We called this company to do a major front yard overhaul. We called four companies for proposals and they were the highest price overall by FAR. 40% over the next highest company, Malibu Coast Inc, who we subsequently hired.
The main reason we did not hire them was price and the fact that all the owner, Montgomery Knox, could do was speak badly about other companies and specifically the one we eventually hired. We are multiple homeowners and had Mr Knox do a job for us years prior and it turned out reasonably well except follow up and warranty was a joke. We called him about 4 times and finally paid Malibu Coast Inc(310-866-8006) to fix some small things which he did himself for 185.00. The owner at Malibu Coast Inc had nothing bad to say about Mr Knox but that he may have some personal issues bothering him and that he wished him well. He added that he OWNED the domain names malibucoastnursery.com and malibunursery.com and that might be the source of Mr Knox frustration. He also showed us his license, workers comp, and liability policy for a 185.00 repair. When we tried to reach Mr Know he did not return our call. We would NOT be able to give this company a positive review.
We also know that when a company spends that much time badmouthing another, chances are the other guy is good.
Lastly, when we asked Mr Know if he had a contractor license which is an absolute LAW he said he did not need one and that all his foreman had "drivers licenses". Seriously, you cant make this stuff up.
