I go to Pacific Home Do It pretty much whenever I need hardware or plant stuff because it's near my house, even though I've never thought the service was all that great.
Today it took me 20 minutes to find an employee to help me (though their seemed to be plenty around, I guess they are too buzy stocking stuff). I was looking for a big bag of dirt for growing veggies. The first employee I talked too said big bags of soil were outside.
So, I went outside and looked around, I saw some big bags of soil for roses, but couldn't find any for planting veggies. A man asked if I needed help (that was a shock, simply because I've been going to this store for 7 years and this is maybe the second time I've been asked that question). I told him that I needed some soil for planting veggies. In the course of the next few minutes, he managed to cut me off in mid-sentance about 3 times, accuse me of not knowing math (but he wanted top sell me a "cubit" of dirt, I did not know what that was since I've only ever bought it by the square foot or square yard), and told me several times that my request was not specific enough. Silly me, I thought if I asked for "soil for planting veggies" he would show me the different kinds they had, or at least lead me to where the soils were kept so I could look.
I eventually left, having bought nothing, and heading for the nearest big box gardening store.
